Police Arrest 17 Pro-Biafra Protesters In Imo For Remembering Biafra Declaration Day – Chidebube And Felix

The operatives of Imo State Police Command, Monday, in Owerri, the state capital nabbed 17 persons who were commemorating the May 30, 1967, Republic of Biafra Declaration by Late warlord and Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu.

Briefing newsmen, the Police Public Relations officer, PPRO, in the state, Mr. Andrew Enwerem said that the pro-Biafran Republic agitators were arrested at Okigwe/Tetlow Road in Owerri with Biafran insignias.

The police spokesperson informed that other Biafran insignias such as flags, Banners were recovered from the Biafran faithful.

Mr. Enwerem averred that the Biafra Republic agitators were gathering unlawfully and their meeting was tantamount to breaching public peace and cause disorder in the society.

He said investigations were on with the view of charging them to court.

While the police spokesperson was busy addressing newsmen, the agitators were busy singing Biafran songs in solidarity, even as they kept saying that it is Biafra Republic or nothing.

Biafran agitators seem to gained more ground recently as a result of the emergence of the dreadful Egbesu group also known as Niger-Delta Avengers.

The Niger-Delta Avengers are also agitating for self rule by making all attempt to break off from the entity called Nigeria, Biafran agitators refer to Nigeria as ZOO that they are part of the zoo country called Nigeria. But the Niger-Delta Vengeance involved more violence in driving home their point of action. And this involved all form of pipeline vandalisations, kidnapping of oil experts, and most recently, bombing of oil and gas industries in the region.
