Over five hundred security agencies in the early hours of Wednesday morning invaded the venue of the PDP National Convention, chasing away officials of the party and television crews.
The invading security agencies who drove into the venue with armored personnel carriers, grenade launcher and other sophisticated weapons led by an Army Major General declared that they were directed by the Chief of Defense Staff on the orders of the Presidency to seal off the Sharks Stadium in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
They dislodged television crews already positioned to beam the PDP National Convention live and chased all journalists out of the venue and sealed off all routes leading to the venue of the convention.
In view of the development, leaders of the PDP were meeting at a hotel in Port Harcourt to decide the next line of action.
It would be recalled that the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt had declared that its judgment of 4th July, 2016 validating the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party remains valid and subsisting until vacated by the Court of Appeal.
The court further in its judgement on Tuesday ruled that the Police and DSS should provide security for the PDP national convention, but Justice Abang gave a ruling yesterday evening putting a stop to the convention.
Lawyers described the action of Justice Abang as a miscarriage of law and was of no effect, saying that a ruling is less effective than a judgement.
